This watercolor snow fence painting shows sand patterns art created by nature and that was then edited by man. The spring tides deposited minerals on the beach which flowed through the snow fence to create a design in the sand. People walked across the sand on the left, going around the fence and disturbing the pattern.
Minerals such as garnet, manganese, and rose quartz can accumulate in the sand to cause the phenomenon of purple sand. In reality there was a hint of lavender in the grey sand, but for aesthetic reasons the artist favored the lavender over the grey.
The painting has a double off-white mat, plexiglass and a soft grey-brown frame with a
silver lining. The frame measures 18 3/8" by 23".
